Your Zhangjiajie adventure begins with a private pickup from Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport or Zhangjiajie West Railway Station.

Your driver will meet you upon arrival and take you directly to Wulingyuan, the main gateway to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. The drive usually takes around 40–60 minutes, depending on your arrival point and traffic.

After checking in at the Pullman Zhangjiajie Hotel, you can take the rest of the day to relax and recover from your journey.

There is no fixed sightseeing program today, so you can keep the evening flexible. Wulingyuan has plenty of restaurants and small local shops within easy reach of the hotel.

If you arrive early, you can also take a relaxed walk around Wulingyuan and prepare for the following two full days in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park.

After breakfast, begin your first full day in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park.

The focus today is on the spectacular mountain scenery that made Zhangjiajie famous around the world. The route includes Yuanjiajie, Tianzi Mountain and the Ten-Mile Gallery.

Yuanjiajie – The Landscape Behind the Avatar Mountains

Start with Yuanjiajie, one of the most iconic areas of the national forest park.

The towering quartz-sandstone pillars rise dramatically from the valleys, creating the distinctive landscape often associated with the floating mountains in the movie Avatar. The famous Southern Sky Column is one of the highlights of this area.

Instead of simply rushing from one viewpoint to another, allow time to stop at several viewing platforms and appreciate how the landscape changes from different angles.

Tianzi Mountain

Continue to Tianzi Mountain, famous for its dense collection of peaks, deep valleys and changing mountain scenery.

On a clear day, the viewpoints provide some of the most impressive panoramic views in the park. In misty or cloudy weather, the mountains can look completely different, with peaks appearing and disappearing through the clouds.

Ten-Mile Gallery

Finish the day at Ten-Mile Gallery, a scenic valley surrounded by steep sandstone peaks.

The area is much more relaxed than some of the major viewpoints and offers a different perspective of Zhangjiajie's landscape.

Today is a slower-paced day, giving you the opportunity to experience Zhangjiajie from the valley rather than only from mountain viewpoints.

Golden Whip Stream

After breakfast, visit Golden Whip Stream, one of the most beautiful walking routes in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park.

The trail follows a clear mountain stream through a narrow valley surrounded by towering cliffs and forest. Compared with the high-altitude viewing platforms, this section gives you a much closer feeling of being inside the landscape.

The walk is relatively gentle, although comfortable walking shoes are strongly recommended.

Take your time here. The changing light, vegetation and rock formations make Golden Whip Stream particularly enjoyable for travelers interested in photography.

Baofeng Lake

After lunch, continue to Baofeng Lake.

Surrounded by steep mountains, the lake is known for its calm water and dramatic scenery. A boat ride is one of the highlights, allowing you to see the surrounding cliffs from a completely different perspective.

Baofeng Lake is also a good contrast to the previous two days. Instead of looking down from mountain viewpoints, you will be surrounded by the mountains from water level.

Today combines two very different experiences: the famous glass bridge and the underground world of Huanglong Cave.

Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon & Yuntiandu Glass Bridge

After breakfast, travel to Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon.

The highlight is Yuntiandu Glass Bridge, one of Zhangjiajie's best-known attractions.

The transparent bridge stretches high above the canyon, providing views directly down into the valley below. For visitors who are comfortable with heights, walking across the bridge is an unforgettable part of the Zhangjiajie experience.

If you are nervous about heights, you can still enjoy the surrounding canyon scenery without focusing entirely on the glass floor.

Huanglong Cave

Continue to Huanglong Cave, one of the most impressive karst caves in the Zhangjiajie area.

Inside the cave, you will see large underground chambers, stalactites, stalagmites and other limestone formations. The cave environment provides a complete change of scenery after spending several days among Zhangjiajie's sandstone mountains.

Today is the longest and most varied day of the itinerary.

After breakfast, leave Wulingyuan and head toward Tianmen Mountain before continuing south toward Fenghuang.

Tianmen Mountain

Tianmen Mountain is famous for its dramatic cliffs, Tianmen Cave and spectacular mountain scenery.

Depending on the operating conditions and your ticket arrangement, the sightseeing route may include the cable car, mountain viewpoints and the famous glass plank road.

Tianmen Mountain Glass Plank Road

The glass plank road is attached to the side of the mountain cliff, creating the sensation of walking above the valley.

It is a short experience, but the views can be spectacular when visibility is good.

Tianmen Cave

One of the defining landmarks of Tianmen Mountain is Tianmen Cave, a huge natural opening through the mountain.

The site is often described as the “Gateway to Heaven” because of its dramatic shape and location high above the surrounding landscape.

After visiting Tianmen Mountain, continue by private vehicle toward Furong Town.

Furong Town

Furong Town is an ancient town built dramatically along a waterfall.

Rather than spending only a short time taking photographs, walk through the old streets and explore the traditional buildings, riverside paths and waterfall viewpoints.

As evening approaches, continue toward Fenghuang Ancient Town.

Fenghuang Ancient Town at Night

After checking in at your river-view accommodation, head out to experience Fenghuang at night.

The ancient buildings along the Tuojiang River are illuminated after dark, creating one of the most atmospheric scenes in western Hunan.

You can explore the riverside streets, try local food or find a riverside bar for a relaxed evening.

A complimentary “Xiangjian Tuojiang” immersive art cruise is included in the itinerary, offering another way to experience the illuminated riverside scenery.

Wanshou Palace

Continue to Wanshou Palace, a historic riverside complex known for its traditional architecture and cultural heritage.

After sightseeing, enjoy some free time to walk along the Tuojiang River, take photographs or have lunch before departure.

Departure Transfer

After the tour, your private driver will transfer you to your chosen departure point.

Possible drop-off options include Huaihua South Railway Station, Zhangjiajie West Railway Station, Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport or Zhangjiajie city.
