Shanghai Stole My Heart

I had an amazing time exploring Shanghai with my family. From the historic Yu Garden to the futuristic skyline of Lujiazui, the city perfectly blends tradition and modern life. We loved visiting Shanghai Disneyland, taking a relaxing boat ride in Zhujiajiao Water Town, and enjoying the stunning night views along the Bund. It was a fun, comfortable, and unforgettable trip that I'd happily recommend to anyone visiting China.

Tour overview

I finally got the chance to visit Shanghai with my family, and it turned out to be one of the best trips we've ever taken. We booked a private tour, so everything was really easy. Our guide spoke excellent English and shared lots of interesting stories instead of just giving us facts. Having a private car also made getting around the city super comfortable.

One of my favorite places was Yu Garden. It felt like stepping into another world with beautiful traditional buildings, quiet ponds, and winding paths. Right outside, the City God Temple area was full of snacks, souvenirs, and festive decorations. We happened to visit during the Spring Festival season, so the whole place was full of energy and looked amazing at night.

Of course, we couldn't miss The Bund. Seeing the skyline across the river was even more impressive than I expected. On one side were the historic European-style buildings, and on the other side were the modern skyscrapers of Lujiazui, including the Oriental Pearl Tower. Watching all the lights come on after sunset was probably one of my favorite moments of the trip. We also took an evening cruise on the Huangpu River, which gave us an even better view of the city.

Another highlight was spending a whole day at Shanghai Disneyland. Even though we are all adults, we had so much fun. The park was huge, the rides were exciting, and the shows were fantastic. It honestly felt like being a kid again. We stayed until the evening to watch the fireworks, and it was definitely worth the wait.

I also really enjoyed our visit to Zhujiajiao Water Town. After spending several days in the busy city, it was nice to slow down for a while. We took a small boat through the canals, crossed old stone bridges, and walked along the narrow streets lined with traditional houses. It was peaceful and had a completely different atmosphere from downtown Shanghai.

My younger sister's favorite place was Shanghai Wild Animal Park. She spent ages watching the pandas, giraffes, and elephants. It was much bigger than we expected, and some animals could even be seen up close during the safari bus ride. It ended up being one of the most relaxing days of our trip.

Besides the famous attractions, I also loved simply walking around places like Xintiandi, Tianzifang, and Wukang Road. Every neighborhood had its own personality. Some streets were full of historic buildings, while others were packed with trendy cafés, bookstores, and little boutiques. It was fun just wandering around without any real plan.

One thing I really appreciated throughout the trip was how smoothly everything was arranged. We never had to worry about transportation or buying tickets because our guide had already taken care of everything. That allowed us to simply enjoy the experience together as a family.

Shanghai completely exceeded my expectations. It's a city where old traditions and modern life exist side by side, and every day offered something different. I left with hundreds of photos, lots of great memories, and a strong feeling that I'll definitely come back one day.
