China's Wildest Landscapes Completely Blew Me Away

I traveled to Chongqing and Zhangjiajie with my parents, my younger brother, and my aunt. None of us had been to this part of China before, so we honestly had no idea what to expect. Looking back now, I can easily say this was one of the most memorable family trips we've ever had. Having a private driver and an English speaking guide made everything so much more relaxing because we could simply enjoy ourselves instead of worrying about transportation or planning.

Chongqing completely surprised me. Watching the train pass through the apartment building at Liziba Light Rail Station was every bit as crazy as people say. We also visited Wulong Three Natural Bridges, where the huge cliffs and natural stone arches made us feel incredibly small. It was one of those places that reminded me just how incredible nature can be.

Taking the high speed train into Zhangjiajie was exciting because everyone in the family had been talking about the famous mountains for months. The first time I saw the sandstone pillars rising through the clouds, I finally understood why people say they inspired the world of Avatar. Pictures really cannot prepare you for that view. Riding the Bailong Elevator up the cliff was an experience by itself, and the views around Yuanjiajie and Tianzi Mountain just kept getting better with every stop. Sometimes we didn't even speak because we were too busy staring at the scenery.

I also loved Tianmen Mountain. The mountain road looked impossible from below, and reaching Tianmen Cave felt like arriving somewhere above the clouds. Walking on the glass plank road sounded much scarier before I actually tried it. Once I stepped onto it, I was more amazed than frightened because the views stretched out forever. It's one of those moments that makes you forget everything else around you.

Fenghuang Ancient City was probably the most relaxing stop of the whole trip. The old streets became even more beautiful after sunset when all the lights reflected on the river. We found a small local restaurant by the water and ordered several Chongqing dishes, including spicy hot pot and Chongqing noodles. My dad absolutely loved the hot pot, while I couldn't stop eating the noodles even though they were much spicier than I expected. My aunt kept saying she couldn't handle spicy food, but somehow she always reached for another bite. Good food, beautiful night views, and great company made it one of my favorite evenings in China.

What I loved most wasn't just the incredible scenery. It was how every place had its own personality. Chongqing was lively and full of surprises, while Zhangjiajie felt peaceful and almost unreal. It never felt repetitive because every place gave us a completely different experience.

I came home with thousands of photos, sore legs, and a phone full of family jokes from the trip. If someone asked me which part of China they should visit first, Chongqing and Zhangjiajie would be right at the top of my list.
